Wines of the Week
Here are some notes from Thursday March 4th 2010 afternoon tasting at my favorite Thursday spot:
Peter Paul 2006 Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley, Serracino Vineyards . Deep red color almost black...sweet/candied fruits on the nose...rich and ripe flavors, with lots of black fruit and spice...good balance, and easy drinking . Great with Pork Molise.
08 Rojo Mojo Shiraz La Mancha Spain Young Shiraz from central Spain? From the land of Don Quixote? Yes Shiraz is it. Fun little wine. Intense stewed cherry and blackberry fruit characters followed by tobacco, cinnamon, black pepper and cloves, big fruit blast with firm yet friendly tannins. Great Value @ $ 26.
Vinaceous 06 "Right Hand Red" McLaren Vale Australia
If you like MollyDooker you'll love this. The Shiraz brings some nice blueberry and dark fruit notes. The Grenache ads a nice smokey, savory complexity. The Tempranillo spices things up with crushed white and black peppercorns, and a slight touch of tar.
